Man fatally struck by two cars while crossing Pacific Highway

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8.

One man was killed Sunday night when he was struck by two cars while crossing Pacific Highway South in Federal Way.

At about 5:30 p.m. Nov. 8, Federal Way officers responded to reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision north of S. 312th Street on Pacific Highway South, said Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of FWPD.

An initial investigation revealed that a man in his 60s was crossing from west to east, just north of the intersection and not in a crosswalk, Schwan said.

“The victim was struck by two northbound vehicles, the first causing the victim to fall to the pavement, and the second struck the victim while he was down on the pavement,” he said. The victim died at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained.

The first vehicle stopped, but the second vehicle left the area without stopping, police said.

Federal Way’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation. Police have no suspect information at this time.
