Man dies in shooting at FW apartment complex

Incident at Glen Park At West Campus apartments is the third homicide so far in Feb.

A 23-year-old Tacoma man was shot and killed in Federal Way, marking the third homicide during the first 16 days of February and the third homicide of 2025.

According to the Federal Way Police Department, at 9 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Glen Park At West Campus apartments, 952 SW Campus Drive, officers were dispatched in response to reports of gunshots. A witness reported hearing four to five loud noises and then seeing two Black males, approximately 20 years old, wearing jeans and hoodies, who quickly walked away from the area where the shots were believed to have originated, according to the department. The two males are the males of interest in the case, the department reported.

According to the department, officers responded immediately after the incident, and while conducting a search of the area, officers were flagged down, and they found a 23-year-old male who had been shot. The victim has been identified as Jermaine Quintel Guidry, and his last known address is listed as in Tacoma.

Following the discovery of the man, officers secured the area and immediately began administering life-saving measures. The efforts were unsuccessful, and the male succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to the department.

FWPD Cmdr. Kyle Buchanan said officers then initiated a K9 track to locate suspects, but it was unsuccessful. Buchanan said there have been no developments in regard to suspects, but detectives are working hard to identify suspects.

Regarding whether this homicide and the two other homicides that occurred in Federal Way since Feb. 1 are targeted or random, Buchanan said they don’t appear to be random. The first homicide of 2025 in Federal Way was on Feb. 1 in the 31000 block of 9th Ave. South where a 21-year-old male died of a gunshot wound. The second homicide occurred on Feb. 13 at 1900 SW Campus Drive, where a young adult woman died of a gunshot wound.

“Our investigators are working tirelessly on these cases and following every lead to solve these murders. It is difficult to predict when these types of crimes will occur,” Buchanan said. “We are confident that our detectives’ dedicated efforts will resolve these tragic events. The safety of our community remains a top priority, and we will update the community when significant progress is made in each of these cases.”
