Woman with dementia refuses medicine, attacks husband: At 11:59 a.m. on Aug. 22 in the 4000 block of Southwest 321st Street, officers responded to a call of a woman becoming violent. Arriving officers found the woman to have “a disheveled appearance” and noted she’d been involuntarily committed three times in the past for domestic-related arguments about her dementia. At the scene, the woman was “speaking in tongues,” and her husband reported she was “behaving aggressively,” “was assaultive,” and “refuses to take her prescription medication for her disorder and is becoming increasingly violent towards him.” She was involuntarily committed.

9-year-old found alone: At 3:01 p.m. on Aug. 22 in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, a witness found a 9-year-old by himself who said he’d taken a bus from Des Moines and didn’t know his home information. The man called 911 and stayed with the child, and arriving officers were able to transport him home to his mother. The mother told police her son has “an extensive history of running away and theft.”

Officers found that the parties involved were having “a verbal argument over eating crackers” in a bedroom, “so one party picked up a sword and the other grabbed a handgun. Neither party threatened each other, nor was anyone injured.” Officers determined no crime had been committed and one of the parties involved “decided he didn’t want to live there anymore, so a civil standby was conducted to ensure a midevil [sic] sword fight didn’t occur and he left on his own. No crime. Case closed.”

Bearing arms gets drunk to leave: At 1:43 a.m. on Aug. 23 at 28719 Military Rd. S., police responded to calls of an intoxicated male creating a disturbance at 7-11. He reportedly entered the store and began asking other customers for money, “yelling” when they refused, and had tried to purchase beer but was denied. A customer asked the man to leave and the man refused, becoming more belligerent. The man approached the customer, who was open-carrying a revolver and told the man he “was concerned the man was about to hurt him.” The customer drew his gun and placed it at his side, telling the man to stay back, and the man left the store. He was not located. The clerk of the store corroborated the customer’s statement on the event.

Heart-broken man walking I-5 arrested: At 8:06 a.m. on Aug. 23 on southbound Interstate 5 near South 320th Street, Federal Way police responded to a request from the Washington State Patrol for assistance with a man seen walking on the freeway. When contacted, the man said “he was left by a friend in Seattle and that he is trying to get back home in Kennewick.” He said he was heart-broken over not knowing the location of his 2-year old, who was “with his drug-addicted mother and ‘druggie friends.'” A search found the man had two warrants out of West Richland for domestic violence-related charges, so he was arrested and booked into SCORE jail.

Victim owes $968 in Michigan, has never been there: At 2:01 p.m. on Aug. 23 in the 31000 block of 1st Avenue South, police contacted a woman who had reported a theft. The woman told police she’d recently been contacted by a utility company based in Michigan that was trying to collect on a $968 outstanding account balance. The woman, however, said she “has never lived outside of Washington, let alone opened a utility account” in a different state. The victim speculated that her identity had been compromised by T-Mobile. Officers referred her to Detroit police to report the fraud and the address where the the accounts were opened.

Wallet found, turned in: At 9:25 p.m. on Aug. 24, a member of the Church of God turned into police a wallet that had been found on church property the previous day. Officers attempted to contact a phone number associated with the wallet without success, then recorded and stored it for safekeeping.

Suspects screams at woman, other intervene, are assaulted: At 6:07 a.m. on Aug. 25 in the 34000 block of Pacific Highway South, police responded to reports of an assault. The victims had intervened when they observed three suspects “screaming at an elderly lady for taking their parking space” and had been assaulted by the suspects afterwards. The suspects were gone when police arrived, and the victims told officers they didn’t want to assist with prosecution because they needed to get to work.

Man burning things committed: At 9:21 a.m. on Aug. 25 in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, police responded to reports of a man burning things in a dumpster near a building. When questioned, the man “admitted the burning but has mental health issues.” He was involuntarily committed.

Foster brothers tell stories at Wild Waves: At 5:43 p.m. on Aug. 25 at 36201 Enchanted Pkwy. S., Wild Waves security contacted police about a juvenile problem. The “younger juvenile” male told arriving officers “his foster brother had threatened him and had punched other people in the park and had injuries to his hands.” Wild Waves security had no corroborating reports of the boy’s story. When interviewed, the older juvenile told police “a completely different story,” namely that his younger brother “had pushed a young girl off of a ride and the mother of the girl had yelled at him.” Police did not observe injuries to either boy and contacted their foster mother, who told police “that both boys are habitual liars and will lie to get the other brother in trouble due to the fact that either one likes the other one.” No crime was observed or evidenced, so police asked the boys’ foster mother to pick them up, which she did.

Rock-tosser cuffed, cited: At 2:47 p.m. on Aug. 27 in the 28000 block of Military Road South, a victim flagged down police and said a male who threw a rock into the victim’s window was in the parking lot of a 7-11. Officers arrived in the parking lot and found a male “with a rock in each hand.” The male put the rocks down and was placed into handcuffs. He was cited for malicious mischief and transported to his residence.

Intoxicated, flailing man committed: At 10:12 a.m. on Aug. 28 in the 31000 block of 53rd Avenue Southwest, police responded to witness reports of a male who appeared high and was observed destroying a fence. Arriving officers found the male wearing “disheveled pajamas” and lying in bushes. He was flailing, shaking uncontrollably, and repeating “oh my God” over and over between bouts of speaking unintelligibly and rapidly moving his head from side to side. The male also had “a wide, glazed look in his eyes and would not respond to direct questioning.” He eventually said he had “taken so much.” Police placed the man in hand and ankle restraints to control the flailing and noted that “it appeared obvious that he was behaving irrationally” and “was under the influence of an unknown substance.” He was involuntarily committed.
