Man beaten at Federal Way Transit Center after telling teen to lower voice

From the Federal Way Police Department:

A man was beaten Monday night at the Federal Way Transit Center, 31621 23rd Ave. S.

While at the bus station, a 32-year-old Kent resident approached a black male in his teens and requested he lower his voice.

At this point, a group of black males, approximately 18 to 21 years old, approached the victim. One of the males in the group came from the side and struck the victim in the side of the face. When the victim turned and faced the male, they began to fight. While the victim and initial suspect were fighting, another male in the group struck the victim in the side of the face.

Police were called to the scene at 11:13 p.m. April 6. The groups of males then left the scene and were not located by police during an area search.

The victim suffered a broken jaw and broken face bones. He had numerous teeth removed as a result of the assault. The victim was initially transported to St. Francis Hospital by ambulance and later transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he is currently in stable condition. The victim told police he was at the transit center waiting for a bus.

Federal Way police detectives and patrol officers are currently following leads from the victim and a witness in an attempt to further identify and locate the suspects. A video of the crime is available.
