Man beaten at Federal Way bus stop | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log Jan. 26-31.

Jan. 26

DUI arrest: At about 1:45 a.m. near the 31700 block of 23rd Avenue South, officers responded to a collision and arrested a highly intoxicated man. His breath sample was several times over the legal limit. He also had prior DUI arrests, which led to a mandatory booking in jail. A city-owned tree and light pole were damaged in the collision.

Coffee shop theft: At about 11:15 p.m. the night before near the 32900 block of 1st Avenue South, a couple threw a rock through the glass front door of a local coffee shop. The man entered the business and stole a card reader. Both the man and the woman fled the scene. Limited suspect information was gathered.

Purse stolen out of shopping cart: At about 10 a.m. near the 1910 block of South 320th Street, a woman was shopping at T.J. Maxx when her purse was stolen out of her shopping cart. The incident and the suspect were captured on the store’s surveillance.

Firearm threat: At about 2:36 p.m. near the 1600 block of South 308th Street, a man reported he was cleaning an apartment when a male suspect entered the residence. The suspect threatened the man and his employee, then pulled out a firearm. The man and the employee left the apartment and the suspect was not located.

Baby photo argument: At about 4:46 p.m. near the 30900 block of 17th Avenue SW, two suspects were angry they didn’t receive photos of their newly born nephew. They went to the family member’s house to express their anger. The suspect and their sister got into an argument and the suspects used pepper spray on the victim. The suspects were gone upon police arrival.

Jan. 27

Gunshot victim: At about 4:35 a.m. near the 34500 block of 9th Avenue South, officers responded to St. Francis Hospital for a patient with a gunshot wound to the leg. The shooting occurred at a nearby park. The patient and the person who brought him to the hospital refused to speak with police. The victim and the person also could not verify the shooting occurred in Federal Way.

Robbed at gunpoint: At about 4:46 p.m. near the 1700 block of South 327th Street, officers responded to the area for reports of drug activity. Upon arrival, offices saw a vehicle matching the suspect’s vehicle fleeing the scene. Two men approached the officers and said they were robbed at gunpoint by the suspect vehicle.

Jan. 29

Construction company hit by thieves: At about 12:22 p.m. near the 700 block of SW 357th Street, a construction company supervisor called to report a theft from a company vehicle. The incident cost the company several thousand dollars in damage to the trust and the stolen equipment. Several of the tools were found being sold on OfferUp.

Catalytic converter theft at Costco: At about 2:30 p.m. near the 35100 block of Enchanted Parkway, a man returned to his vehicle after shopping at Costco to find two suspects attempting to steal his catalytic converter. The suspects fled when the man interrupted the theft. His vehicle sustained some damage. No viable suspect information gathered.

Man beaten at bus stop: At about 7:03 p.m. near the 31200 block of Pacific Highway South, a suspect assaulted a man during a verbal altercation near a bus stop. The suspect wrestled the man to the ground, struck him with his fist approximately seven times, and stomped on or kicked the victim’s head twice.

Jan. 30

Driver corners, shoots at woman: At about 4 a.m. near the 31200 block of 23rd Avenue South, a woman was driving when she noticed a car was following her closely. The vehicle eventually blocked the roadway in front of her and the driver fired one shot at her. She was not injured. Police have no suspect information.

Jan. 31

Person pepper sprayed by security: At about 3:20 a.m. near the 1100 block of South 348th Street, a person was walking when they flagged down a security truck for assistance. Without any warming, the driver rolled down his window and pepper sprayed the person before fleeing the scene.
