Aug. 14

There were four vehicle thefts, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Attack with a knife: At about 9:50 p.m. in the 1000 block of S. 320th St., police were dispatched to a threat with a weapon. Upon further investigation, two victims were located, and one suspect was taken into custody.

Aug. 15

There were four vehicle thefts, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Shoplifter arrested: At about 8:20 a.m. at Target, a store employee called the police and said someone was walking around the store putting merchandise in a backpack. When officers arrived, the shoplifter fled on foot and was arrested by police. The merchandise was recovered.

Stolen vehicle recovered: At about 10:35 a.m. in the 32000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., officers responded to a hit-and-run collision, and vehicle 1 was found to be stolen. The suspect ran away, but witnesses directed officers to where he went. The suspect was then located, arrested and booked.

Shot at the car: At about 5:45 p.m. in the 28000 block of 25th Place S., officers were dispatched to a woman who reported that an unknown subject had approached her unoccupied vehicle and shot it. Damage to the windshield was minimal. It was believed that the gun was a pellet or BB gun. No suspects at the time.

Aug. 16

There was one vehicle theft, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Explosives: At about 5:25 p.m. in the 1200 block of S. 376th St., someone reported that they had found two improvised explosives in his recovered stolen vehicle. An officer responded and secured the devices. The officer did not locate any more explosive devices, and the original explosives were disposed.

Swallowed drugs: At about 7:30 p.m. in the 31000 block of 10th Ave. S., officers detained a male with multiple warrants. The male stated that he had swallowed drugs and then began showing signs of overdose from opioids. Officers administered Narcan, and then he was transported to the hospital. The warrants were not confirmed, and he was not placed into custody.

Aug. 17

There were three vehicle thefts, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Drive-by in another city: At about 2:35 p.m. in the 32500 block of 5th Ave. S., officers engaged in an agency assist for Kent when they found a blue Dodge Durango that they had probable cause for involvement in a drive-by shooting that happened a few hours earlier. The vehicle was turned over to Kent for recovery.

Aug. 18

There were five vehicle thefts, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Weapons violation: At about 8 p.m. in the 34000 block of 16th Ave. S,. officers responded to a suspicious person’s call. The reporting party said they had confiscated a firearm from a suspect.

Aug. 19

There were two vehicle thefts, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Man rams police vehicles: At about 5:20 a.m. in the 33000 block of 1st Place S., a vehicle’s registered owner had a felony warrant for a vehicular assault. Police pinned in the vehicle. However, the warrant subject was not inside. As the patrol vehicles were moved, the driver in the vehicle began to ram a police car with officers on foot nearby. The driver was ultimately arrested for reckless driving and driving while their license was suspended, and a possible violation of the Uniform Firearms Act charge may later be added because a firearm was found in the vehicle, and the driver was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Attempted burglary: At about 9:15 a.m. in the 2600 block of SW 340th Place, someone reported that someone entered their yard and attempted to look through items in front of their garage, but then their dog scared them off.

Aug. 20

There were three vehicle thefts, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Juvenile assaults officer: At about 3:10 a.m. in the 31000 block of 14th Ave. SW, officers responded to a call about someone climbing onto someone’s roof, who then began attempting to enter a window through a ladder. Upon arrival, officers told the juvenile male he was being detained and to get off the ladder. The juvenile got off the ladder and initiated a foot pursuit. During the pursuit, the juvenile assaulted an officer before being placed into handcuffs.

Arson to vehicle: At about 3:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of S. 320th St., several people called 911 to report a vehicle fire, and an investigation revealed that an unknown subject had broken the rear window of a vehicle and placed an incendiary device inside, causing the vehicle to burst into flames. The suspect fled in a vehicle. No suspect was found. Two vehicles were damaged in the fire.
