Human remains found at Evergreen Bible Chapel in Federal Way

A group of employees and volunteers with Evergreen Bible Chapel found skeletal remains near church property Saturday morning.

The group was working in in the 34000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, a nearby wooded area just east of church, attempting to clear brush in an ongoing effort to address a homeless issue and concerns at the site, when the remains were first discovered.

King County detectives and the King County Medical Examiner’s Office searched the area Saturday afternoon, and, the bones that were discovered were initially believed to be the remains of just one person.

Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said detectives returned Sunday along with King County search and rescue to complete the search. Additional skeletal pieces were found, but it was determined the additional remains belonged to one person. The gender is still undetermined at this time.
