The City of Federal Way Parks Department will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. June 21 for the new Panther Lake Loop Trail.
When completed, the one-mile loop trail located between the King County Aquatic Center and the Federal Way National Little League complex will feature a 50-foot pedestrian footbridge, adjacent 26-stall parking lot and interpretive signs.
“This will be a great amenity for both Federal Way residents and visitors alike,” Parks Deputy Director Steve Ikerd said in a media release. “Not only will people get the chance to see a variety of birds and waterfowl on the Panther Lake, the trail will also connect with the very popular BPA Trail, giving users one more option when it comes to outdoor recreation.”
Primary funding for the project comes from King County Trails Levy along with some city funds.
Those interested in attending the ceremony should park in the Little League Complex parking lot located off of Southwest Campus Drive. Please do not park at the aquatic center as there is a large event that day inside the facility.
