Mailbox bluff: At about 12:39 a.m. near the 1900 block of SW Campus Drive, an unknown man was using a set of keys to enter a workplace. When police arrived, the man said he had a mailbox inside and had 24/7 access inside with the keys. Police checked the mailbox he mentioned and it did not belong to the man. The man had also printed out about $400 worth of paper inside the business as well. The employees did not press charges; the man was released.
Man shot in Kent: At about 12:15 a.m. near the 29800 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to the MultiCare emergency room for a man who arrived with a gunshot wound. The victim stated the shooting occurred in Kent. The victim’s girlfriend said when they were going to the store, an unknown person started shooting at the victim. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center and information about the shooting was given to Kent Police.
Stolen groceries: At about 1:30 p.m. near the 35400 block of 21st Avenue SW, an unknown woman stole a cart full of food and groceries. The total amount of stolen goods was estimated to be about $200.
Shooting threat: At about 2:40 p.m. near the 32900 block of 1st Avenue South, a person told police that a car pulled up next to him and threatened him. Both vehicles pulled into a parking lot and one vehicle attempted to shoot at the person.

Ex-employee threats: At about 2:18 p.m. near the 34700 block of Pacific Highway South, it was reported that a former employee sent threatening text messages and voicemails to a store manager. The employee had been fired the day before.

Employee falls on ice: At about 2 a.m. near the 31600 block of 23rd Ave South, a Pierce Transit employee fell while spreading de-icer on 21st Avenue South. While there were no visible injuries, the employee could not say where they were, what day it was or what year. The employee was transported to the hospital.
Stolen vehicle occupant arrested: At about 3:44 p.m. near the 2100 block of SW 336th Street, officers responded to Safeway for reports of an occupied stolen vehicle. Just before officers arrived on scene, the vehicles left. Police found one of the vehicles later and an arrest was made without incident.

Shoplifter arrested: At about 1:10 p.m. near the 2200 block of South Commons, a woman was detained after shoplifting from Target. A system check showed the woman had multiple warrants, including a felony warrant for larceny. She told police she had ingested fentanyl pills, and was taken to the hospital. Later she was released with no signs of drug ingestion. The woman was booked into SCORE Jail.
Pedestrian struck by car: At about 10:41 p.m. near the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, a pedestrian attempted to cross Pacific Highway South and was struck by a car. The pedestrian was transported to Harborview Medical Center.

Gun pointed on Christmas: At about 4:23 p.m. near the 33300 block of 22nd Lane South, police responded to reports of a heavily intoxicated suspect pointing a gun at household members. Police detained the man and discovered there was no domestic relationship between the suspect and the house members. The household members did not cooperate with the criminal investigation. The suspect was in custody for involuntary treatment at the hospital.

Shoplifter caught: At about 10:30 a.m. near the 2200 block of South Commons, a man was arrested for shoplifting from Target.
Small dog killed by stray: At about 10:45 a.m. near the 1000 block of South 324th Place, an owner reported that a stray dog bit her, and also attacked and killed her dog. The stray dog, a medium-sized American Terrier Pit Bull, had killed her small terrier while the owner was walking her dog. The stray dog also bit the woman’s hand, which was treated at the scene. The stray dog was transported to the Pierce County Humane Society and officials are working to identify the stray dog’s owners.

Airsoft shot: At about 10:47 p.m. near the 30800 block of 18th Place SW, the victims were shot at with airsoft pellets by unknown juveniles.

Man claims to be city worker: At about 7 a.m. near the 1300 block of South 336th Street, a person saw a man standing on an electrical box and opening the box with a tool. Police contacted the man, who said he was doing work for the city and that he worked for God. The man did not have any information to verify he worked for the city. Dispatch advised the man had a warrant out of Pierce County for failure to register as a sex offender. The man was arrested and transported to Pierce County custody.

Employee with authority arrested: At about 7:50 p.m. near the 1800 block of South 341st Place, police responded to an alarm at an auto body shop. A man was seen loading vehicle parts into the bed of his truck after the business was closed. The man was detained in handcuffs and it was later discovered he is an employee who had the authority to be there after hours. The employee had inadvertently set off the alarm and was unaware.

Golf bag, clubs stolen: At about 7:50 a.m. near the 31900 block of 34th Place SW, it was reported that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect entered his garage and stole his golf clubs and golf bag. The combined value of the clubs and bag was approximately $5,000.
Female attacked in car: At about 7:50 p.m. near the 33700 block of 21st Avenue SW, officers responded to a report of a female yelling for help from a parked vehicle. Investigation revealed the suspect punched and strangled the victim as they were sitting in the car. The suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail.

Drunk driver at FWHS: At about 3:43 a.m. near the 30600 block of 16th Avenue South, officers responded to a single vehicle collision in the parking lot of Federal Way High School. After completing a field sobriety test, the driver admitted to drinking heavily at a party. The driver was arrested for DUI and booked without incident.
Christmas tree catches fire: At about 6:58 p.m. near the 2600 block of South 287th Street, officers assisted South King Fire and Rescue with a residential fire. The two elderly residents and their two young grandchildren were inside the house when the Christmas tree caught fire. The male resident was in a wheelchair and unable to self-extricate. He was evacuated by a neighbor prior to SKFR arrival. There were no major injuries aside from possible smoke inhalation.
Jan. 2
ATM damaged: At about 3:48 a.m. near the 900 block of So9uth 348th Street, a security officer found damage to the drive-thru ATM at a bank. The damage occurred to the metal housing of the machine.
Storage units burglarized: At about noon near the 31000 block of 21st Place SW, an employee of a storage unit company reported that three units were burglarized in the last few days.
Jan. 3
Rock thrown: At about midnight near the 1800 block of SW 326th Street, an unknown person threw a softball-sized rock through the homeowner’s living room window. No suspect information.
