Going to college? Here’s your opportunity to learn more

Federal Way high school students have two upcoming opportunities to prepare for college.

College Prep Night

The College Prep Night at Todd Beamer High School will allow potential college students to learn more about the admissions process, college applications, transfer options and information on two- and four-year programs.

“It’s a pretty complicated process,” district spokeswoman Diane Turner said. “There’s FAFSA, GATES, the signatures needed. It’s always a benefit to get those questions answered. It’s valuable to any student considering post-secondary education.”

The event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the school, 35999 16th Ave. S and is open to any who wish to attend..

There will be presentations from Jennifer Rance, University of Washington Outreach and Admissions Counselor, as well as Rashad Norris, Highline Community College Director of Outreach Services.

SAT prep

Also available as a college prep tool, Thomas Jefferson High School DECA is sponsoring the “Fear Free SAT” test prep on April 11. Check-in for the test is 7:45 a.m.

Cost is $25 for the test, which includes a coaching session with Princeton Review staff on April 23, when the tests are returned.

Eighth-graders are also invited to attend.

The proceeds from the event will go toward 2009 TJ DECA Scholarships.
