The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
Man arrested after rollover collision: At 1:56 a.m. on Sept. 21 in the 30th block of S. 342nd Place, police responded to a rollover vehicle crash in the area of South 340th Street and First Way South. While police were en route, several reporting parties said they observed a male with a gun chasing another male toward The Commons apartments.
Upon arrival, an officer observed a silver Nissan on its side and noticed three men walking in the 30th block of South 342nd Place towards him. The officer removed his patrol rifle from his car and approached the men with another officer. They radioed in for additional officers to assist them.
One of the subjects, a 20-year-old Kent man, told police he had a gun, and police ordered all three men to the ground. While waiting for back-up, one of the men, a 21-year-old from Seattle, vomited on the ground and said he had bad incontinence. His speech was slurred and he staggered as he walked before he was ordered to the ground. His breath also smelled of alcohol.
When other officers arrived, they detained all three men in handcuffs. The third man, a 34-year-old from Federal Way, also had a concealed handgun on his person that was in a holster and loaded.
The Seattle man, who was crying and distraught, told police he was at Mongolian Grill partying with some people he did not know. He said he left and remembered the crash. He was a passenger in the car but couldn’t remember who was driving.
Police were unable to contact any reporting parties or other witnesses about the driver of the flipped vehicle. Because they were unable to determine if the Seattle man was the driver, they released him to the care of South King Fire and Rescue and he was transported to the hospital.
The Kent and Federal Way men said they were driving and came across the crashed vehicle. Passersby directed them toward the apartment and they located the Seattle man dry heaving in the bushes. Police arrested the Kent man for being under 21 in possession of a pistol.

The man agreed to assist police in searching for the phone inside his vehicle.
The officer called the phone, which rang inside the man’s car. Further investigation revealed numerous other possible stolen items inside the vehicle, including a bottle of prescription pills. A female suspect was also involved. Police impounded the man’s vehicle.
Girl group fight disbands after gunshot: At 7:01 p.m. on Sept. 20 at 28620 Pacific Highway South, an officer responded to a fight call at La Madera apartments that involved a female with a knife. While en route, dispatch advised the officer that a gun was involved and a gunshot was heard.
Upon arrival, several people were in front of one of the units and were yelling. A 24-year-old Seattle man was detained in handcuffs due to his erratic, emotional behavior while attempting to contact the residents inside the apartment. He was later identified as a family member, who was distraught over the incident.
Police spoke with a woman who lives at the residence, who said while inside, she heard female voices outside in the parking lot. The voices appeared to be talking about the unit that she and other family members live in. The woman said her teenage daughter went outside and approached a group of approximately 10 females in the parking lot. She began physically fighting with one of the females after the girl punched her.
The group then began attacking her daughter, while the mother yelled at the group from the stairs. A female from the group approached the daughter and pointed a black handgun in her direction. She said the girl fired a single shot in her daughter’s direction and her daughter ran back into her apartment. The group of females fled on foot. There were no injuries. Neither the mother nor the daughter knew the group of girls.

After he refused to snuggle, she left the house, irate and later came back and argued with the man. When the police officer arrived, he could hear the man telling the woman to leave him alone.
Ex arrested for kidnapping, assaulting student: At 10:32 a.m. on Sept. 18 at Todd Beamer High School, a school resource officer responding to an unrelated call of a woman waiving a knife noticed a red Honda was blocking traffic. He returned to Todd Beamer and saw a male student standing at the church on 359th Street and 16th Avenue South holding a purse. The student said he was skipping school because a girl he knew asked him to hold onto her purse while she talked to somebody in a red Honda. He said the girl left in the car and did not return.
Some time later, the girl returned to the school upset and crying. The dean of students told the officer that the girl reported her ex-boyfriend kidnapped and assaulted her. The officer saw red marks on her eye, face and arm that she said were caused by her ex grabbing and hitting her three times.
She said she recently broke up with the 17-year-old and he called her that morning and asked her to meet him by the school. After she refused to get in his car, he grabbed her arm and pulled her across the car into his lap and sped away, stopping near the bowling alley.
The two continued to argue and he begged her to take him back and then hit her three times in the face. He then brought her back to school and later turned himself over to police and admitted to the crimes.
He was booked into King County Juvenile Detention for kidnapping and assault.
