Members of the GFWC Sokico Woman’s Club recently held a reception to honor and present checks to DAWN (Domestic Abuse Women’s Network) and the Multi-Service Center. The club divided $7,200 in proceeds from its annual auction, specifically raised to fill the needs of these organizations, for hermetically sealed mattresses. DAWN is a domestic violence shelter and Multi-Service Center has homes for families in transition that are trying to put their lives back together. The club meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month. Membership is open to all women interested in opportunities to make the community and the world a better place to live.
