Start the new year off right with advice on raising healthy kids, sample exercise classes and health tips — which are all available for free at the Community Health Fair going on this Saturday.
The event runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Federal Way Community Center, 876 S. 333rd St., and is sponsored by Federal Way, St. Francis Hospital and Ball Chiropractic.
“The event is a resource for the community,” said Gale Robinette, media relations for St. Francis Hospital. “They can access free testing and chat with health experts.”
The main speaker will be Joe Piscatella, founder of the Institute for Fitness and Health. Piscatella will be speaking at 11 a.m. on raising healthy kids. Piscatella, from Gig Harbor, has appeared on the “Today” show, CNN, Fox News and “Good Morning America” to talk about health. He has authored several books on the subject.
The event will also include glucose/cholesterol screenings, blood pressure readings, body composition analysis, bone density testing and posture screening and will include information on acupuncture, diet and nutrition, hearing, infection prevention, women’s health, podiatry, therapy and many other topics.
“The goal is to encourage people to think about good health,” Robinette said.
Free childcare will be provided for ages 1-11 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
