NBA Hall of Fame player and former Seattle SuperSonics coach Lenny Wilkens will emcee the Reach Out organization’s fourth annual fundraising breakfast.

Wilkens was one of the most successful coaches in franchise history for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors and Seattle SuperSonics.

He and his wife Marilyn are devoted to helping hundreds of families in the Pacific Northwest and are eager to support Reach Out shelters in South King County this year as the breakfast master of ceremonies.

The event will run from 6:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. on Sept. 9 at Christian Faith Center, 33645 20th Ave. S., Federal Way.

The breakfast is Reach Out’s largest fundraiser of the year and proceeds are used to provide intake and screening of potential clients, overnight supervision and case management of homeless adults as they strive to obtain permanent housing and become self-sustaining.

Local heroes Janice Olson and Tyler Lum will be honored during the event for the generous work they do in the Federal Way community and presented with the organization’s Pay it Forward award.

This winter will mark the seventh year for Reach Out’s men’s shelter and the fourth year for their women’s shelter. Through the organization’s partnership with Catholic Community services, local churches and community volunteers, Reach Out provides a warm, safe overnight shelter, an evening meal, breakfast and a sack lunch each day during the cold winter months, in addition to case management services.
