Burglary: A business was burglarized sometime between midnight and 7:45 a.m. near the 35500 block of 21st Avenue Southwest. A safe was stolen.
Carjacking by knife: At approximately 4:20 p.m., a subject entered a victim’s car, pulled a knife and demanded that the victim exit the vehicle. The victim said she had the vehicle running while waiting for her husband and was in the passenger seat. This occurred near the 35400 block of Enchanted Parkway South.
Car left running: A vehicle was left running and unlocked around 5 p.m. near the 29200 block of Military Road South. It was subsequently stolen.
Dec. 28
There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 1 vehicle was recovered.
Squatters arrested: Two people inside a vacant apartment were detained around 10:40 a.m. near the 2400 block of South Star Lake Road. One was taken to jail due to a Des Moines warrant.
Kent murder suspect arrested: The Valley SWAT team supported an arrest of a suspect for murder from Kent around 10 p.m. near the 1900 block of South 341st Place in Federal Way. The suspect’s mother’s vehicle was damaged during the arrest.
Food delivery driver defends car: At approximately 5:45 p.m., a food delivery driver saw a suspect attempting to steal their car near the 31600 block of 3rd Place Southwest. They had to physically pull the suspect out. The report states that the suspect ran into a wooded area nearby, but police were unable to locate him.
Dec. 29
There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 3 vehicles were recovered.
Shoplifter: An employee said that when she went into the office of a retail location around midnight, she came back to see a suspect leaving the store with two boxes full of chargers. The store is located around 1500 block of South 348th Street.
DUI triple threat: A man was arrested around midnight near the 30400 block of Military Road South for driving under the influence, driving without a license and for interlock device violation. He was arrested and booked into jail.
Identity fraud: A victim’s identity was stolen after their wallet was lost. They received an alert on their credit report for a car loan that they did not initiate, and an investigation reported that the fraudulent identity was used to purchase a car.
Dec. 30
There were at least 2 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Forced entry and missing dog: A victim noticed that her window had been removed and her rear door unlocked at a residence near the 35700 block of 16th Avenue South. Nothing was missing except her dog.
Domestic violence call: Police received a call for a verbal domestic, then learned that the caller was inside a residence with someone who had a valid no-contact order. Police attempted to use call-out tactics to get the suspect to exit the apartment, but were unsuccessful, so they acquired a warrant to enter. The suspect was contacted by a K9, but was cleared to be taken to jail after a hospital visit.
First-degree robbery: Officers responded to a recent robbery at a credit union near the 31800 block of Pacific Highway South. They established probable cause for robbery in the first degree.
Dec. 31
There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 4 vehicles were recovered. There were multiple DUI arrests, including one involving a vehicle collision on the last day of 2023
Gas station robbery: Four individuals held a gas station employee at gunpoint around 1:30 a.m. while ransacking a gas station located at 35500 Pacific Highway South. The report states that the suspects had fled by the time police arrived. They stole cash, BuzzBallz, Takis and a juice.
Potential explosive: Around midnight, police officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle that was following another vehicle. Police attempted to contact the stopped vehicle near the 333300 block of 8th Avenue South. The driver presented what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail to the officers.
Street robbery: A suspect took a victim’s backpack and cellphone while another suspect pointed a black handgun at the victim around 5:28 a.m. near the 33000 block of 18th Place South.
Unlocked and running vehicle: At approximately 9:30 a.m., a vehicle was left running and unlocked with the keys in the ignition near the 900 block of Southwest Campus Drive. It was stolen.
Weapons threat: Officers responded to a coffee shop at the 1100 block of South 322nd Place after receiving reports of a threat with a weapon. The suspect was located and probable cause was established for harassment.

Mystery weapons offense: A few minutes after midnight, a passerby reported that an unknown subject fired a gun out of an unknown vehicle before fleeing the area near the 1700 block of South 281st Place. Five bullet shell casings were found at the scene.
Robbery at gas station: A victim reported that sometime between 11 p.m. Dec. 31 and 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1, he had cash and shoes stolen by four individuals. He stated that he was at a gas station, but was not sure of the exact address.
Grocery store assault: At approximately 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of disorderly conduct at a grocery store located near the 32900 block of Pacific Highway South. Officers arrested the subject for assault.
Jan. 2
There were at least 2 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 2 vehicles were recovered.
ATM stolen and abandoned: At approximately 3:40 a.m., officers responded to an alarm in an ATM room at a business near the 34000 block of Hoyt Road Southwest. Upon arrival, they saw an ATM sitting in the parking lot that had been pulled from the wall. No details were included regarding the status of the cash within the machine.
Firearm lost: A gun owner left a firearm that was sealed in a case in the bed of his truck. When he had to rush to the hospital around 3:57 p.m., he forgot that the gun was unsecured, and he believes that it fell off the truck while driving.
Car stolen: When visiting a bank around 4:40 p.m. near 320th Street and Pacific Highway, a victim left his car running with the keys in it and went inside. The vehicle was taken by an unknown suspect.
Distracted driving leads to arrest: Officers made contact with a woman who had been seen operating a handheld device while driving around 8:50 p.m. After pulling her over, they determined she had a warrant and was also driving without a license.
Knife robbery: At approximately 5 p.m., a business located near the 34500 block of 16th Avenue South was robbed with a knife. There are no further details at this time.
Gun stolen: A backpack containing a pistol was stolen out of a victim’s work truck near the 200 block of 299th Street.
