Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell on Friday ordered all American, Washington, and city flags at public buildings be flown at half-staff this Memorial Day.

Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell on Friday ordered all American, Washington, and city flags at public buildings be flown at half-staff this Memorial Day.

“This solemn national remembrance honors those who gave their ‘last full measure of devotion’ while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States. Let us never forget the true cost of our freedom,” Ferrell said in a statement.

“All residents and businesses are encouraged to show their respects by displaying flags at business locations and private homes at half-staff where appropriate.”

The order will be in place on Monday until sunset. It was issued in accordance with a similar flag order given Friday by Gov. Jay Inslee.
