Fire kills dog, displaces 6 families at Federal Way townhomes

Six families were displaced and a dog died in a fire Wednesday at Arcadia Townhomes in Federal Way.

South King Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze shortly before 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at the complex at 1300 SW Campus Drive.

The cause of the fire was reported as a “discarded smoking material on the back deck of the unit,” according to Capt. Jeff Bellinghausen. The fire burned on the deck and quickly spread to the attic.
