Fire commissioners will be addressing South King Fire and Rescue’s shrinking revenue at their next meeting 4 p.m. April 20 at Station 68, 1405 SW 312th St. The board will be voting on an alternative funding measure to be placed on the Aug. 17 primary ballot.

“With the reduction in revenue the fire department is expected to receive this year, we need to look at a more stable revenue source,” Chief Financial Officer David Lawson said in a press release.

Earlier this year, SKFR made immediate cuts of more than $400,000, with cuts to training expenses, department supplies and vehicle replacement costs. SKFR also implemented a hiring freeze and reduced salary and benefit costs through attrition.
