Drivers going in and out of Federal Way should prepare for the fifth and final weekend of what the Washington State Department of Transportation has coined the “South King Slowdown.”

Contractor crews working for WSDOT will reduce southbound I-5 to two lanes at the Duwamish River Bridge to replace four expansion joints on the bridge. The “slowdown” refers to construction on Interstate 5 between South Seattle and Tukwila, with this final stretch lasting Aug. 19-22.

Separately, about 18 miles away, all lanes of southbound State Route 167 will be will be closed in Pacific. Contractor crews there will close all lanes of southbound State Route 167 between Ellingson Road and Eighth Street East in Pacific to replace a culvert under the highway.
