Xerox has been in Federal Way for quite some time, and the major printing company has hit a growth spurt.
The company, which is growing in all aspects, houses its call center operations center at 3600 S 344th St., Suite 210, in Federal Way. It’s expanding, and it’s looking to hire 150 employees over the next four weeks.
Those interested can apply at xerox.com or in person at the Federal Way location.
The boom in needing additional employees comes after the news Xerox will become its own publicly traded company officially known as “Conduent” in January.
“With these changes, we are experiencing some major growth,” Xerox Recruiting Director Sabrina Jones said. “It’s why we’re looking to hire 150 people over the next four weeks. And we will continue to hire on a pretty regular basis.”
Jones said Xerox has a reputation for high turnover and said people can easily associate growth with turnover, but she said it’s not the case.
“We’re doing some great things,” she said. “And it’s an exciting time here and in Federal Way, and we really want exciting people to come and work here.”
Xerox is looking to hire a number of customer care associates, an entry-level position. Jones said, however, that call center employees can apply for career advancement as early as six months after hire. She said the company is all about promoting from within, and the Federal Way office has the numbers to prove it: 95 percent of the employees in the local office all started at the entry-level position the company is currently hiring for, including the Divisional Vice President.
“There’s tremendous growth opportunity for people here,” Jones said. “Though on the surface it is an entry-level position, anyone with career advancement aspirations could benefit from starting out in that role with us.”
After six months, customer care associates can enter into a leadership training program where they train with supervisors to find their area of interest.
Jones said the walk-in approach is particularly beneficial to those looking to work at Xerox, adding that the Federal Way location has computers on-site through which applicants can apply and complete the company assessment.
The company prides itself on convenience when it comes to the employment process, Jones said, and if hiring managers like what they see from the application and assessment results then an applicant can receive a same-day job interview.
If the candidate is seen as a good fit after the first three steps, Jones said it’s not uncommon to also make an offer to a candidate the same day as well.
“If there’s someone we chose to make an offer to and they accept that offer, we also complete the hiring paperwork all in the same day,” Jones said.
“We’re growing. There really isn’t a better time than now. We are going to become our very own company, our own $7 billion company out of the gate. We’re opening the doors, overnight, as our own company. The direction the company is going is really exciting.”
