Federal Way residents Jessica Evenson, Jonathan Qualls and Crystal Asplund have been initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, “the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.”
Eligible members for nomination must have at least 72 semester hours, and from there just the top 10 percent of seniors are recognized and the top 7.5 percent of juniors. About 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni are initiated each year.
Phi Kappa Phi, founded in 1897, says its mission is “to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.” Through the program, more than $1 million is awarded every two years to those who qualify via various fellowships, grants and awards.
