Residents can now drop off even more materials at the city’s semi-annual recycling event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 in the Wild Waves parking lot, located at 36201 Enchanted Parkway S, Federal Way.
The city utilizes grant funding to hold free, one-stop, drop-off events for residents to properly dispose of bulky or difficult to recycle items.
All sizes of propane tanks (including a small one pound cylinder), filled or empty, can be dropped off. A private company will extract any remaining gas, and then recycle the steel. Leaky propane tanks will not be accepted. Books and magazines will be accepted for reuse or recycling, depending upon the condition.
Other items that will continue to be accepted include bulky branches, appliances, mattresses, tires, confidential documents for shredding, electronics, Styrofoam, batteries, bicycles and more. Vendors will screen items and have the right to refuse any unacceptable items. Everything accepted at the event will be reused or properly recycled.
