Lam began the project a few years ago when she was a fourth-grader at Federal Way’s Nautilus Elementary. The project, known as Holiday Lights Recycling Program, has grown each year since.

This year, proceeds from the lights will go toward a community service project and World Vision.

In Federal Way, donate used strands of lights through Jan. 15 at:

• Walmart, 1900 S. 314th St.

• Walmart Supercenter, 34520 16th Ave. S.

• Top Food & Drug, 31515 20th Ave. S.

• Federal Way Public Academy, 34620 9th Ave. S. Lights can be donated at this location throughout the school year. Proceeds from this drop off point go toward a community service project.
