Students at Illahee Middle School are seeking yarn donations for their Hat Club project. The students are knitting hats for Stand Up for Kids, an organization that helps homeless teens in Seattle.
Last year, Illahee donated 242 hats and 48 scarves. Dark colored yarn, thicker yarn and anything with wool is preferred. For more information, contact Karen Orwig at 253-945-4644.
The mother of the victim told the perpetrator that she forgives him, would visit him, and hopes he finds salvation.
The judge said no sentence could erase the family’s pain.
Chief Van Valkenburg’s paid status was extended to Jan. 31, and he will retire on Feb. 1. Deputy Chief Lisa Defenbaugh returned to work on Jan. 9.
