A 17-year-old Decatur High School student was stabbed on his way to school Friday in Federal Way.
The white male told a school resource officer that he had been stabbed in the back during an attempted robbery while on the Lakota Trail.
The victim had two stab wounds near the left shoulder and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Decatur was not put on lockdown following the attack.
“Police were there immediately,” Federal Way Public Schools spokeswoman Diane Turner said. “Students and parents were notified and students were given a letter about walking home.”
The school did have an extra school resource officer during the day.
The two suspects are still at large. One was described as a teenaged black male, 6-foot-1 in height with a heavy build, shaved head, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The second suspect was described as a black teenaged male with medium build, 5-feet 8-inches tall with short hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
The victim said he had never seen the two suspects before and did not believe they attended Decatur.
The suspects demanded the victim’s cell phone, but he refused and was attacked and stabbed twice. After the attack the suspects fled. A police dog was called in but unable to find the suspects, reports said.
Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
