A suspect stole around $200 and eight packs of cigarettes from a smoke shop in Federal Way.

Around 9:15 p.m. July 20, an armed robber entered Smoke Depot at 2331 SW 336th St. and ordered some cigarettes.

According to the police report, the victim and store’s employee asked the suspect to take off his mask because there had been recent incidents including a robbery at other smoke shops.

The suspect responded, “It’s about to happen again.” The suspect then lifted up his shirt and revealed a silver revolver with a brown handle in his waistband.

According to the police report, the employee felt a rush of adrenaline, but was not scared. The employee calmly opened the register where the suspect grabbed roughly $200 in cash. The robber then demanded packs of Marlboro and Newport cigarettes, so the employee grabbed eight packs worth about $76.

The suspect then told the victim to have a nice day and fled in an unknown direction. The suspect has been described as a Black male, 5’9” with a medium build wearing a brown hoodie with the hood up, black cloth mask, black shorts, and scarring on his face.

Police around the area received a call for an armed robbery at 9:20 p.m. They received the description of the suspect and located a male fitting the descriptions at 21st Avenue SW and SW 336th Street.

The police detained this man by putting him in handcuffs, but the police repeatedly stressed that he was not being arrested, according to the police report. The store’s employee saw this potential suspect and stated he was not the robber, according to the report.

The actual suspect is still unknown. Police are investigating.
