Federal Way schools to start 2 hours late on Thursday, Dec. 1

All activities before school are canceled, buses running snow routes and more.

Federal Way schools will start two hours late on Thursday, Dec. 1 due to snow and anticipated icy roads. Federal Way Public Schools notified students and families on Wednesday evening.

Morning and afternoon buses will run on limited snow routes. To see the routes, visit the district website at www.fwps.org/Page/365. Guardians may also contact their child’s school office or the Transportation Department at 253-945-5960 for more information.

Full-day ECAP is also delayed two hours. There is no morning or afternoon part-day preschool or part-day ECAP.

Breakfast will not be served when there is a two-hour late start. Students may visit the school office for a light snack until lunch, which will be served at the normally scheduled times.

All before-school activities, athletics, and extra-curricular events are canceled.

School will dismiss at the normal time.

In addition:

  • No out-of-district transportation.
  • No A.M. and P.M. Puget Sound Skills Center.
  • Each individual school will determine if after-school activities, athletics, or extra-curricular activities will be canceled.
