Federal Way School Board extends Superintendent Pfeiffer’s contract

Through a unanimous vote, Dr. Pfeiffer will serve through June 2025.

The Federal Way Public Schools Board of Directors voted on March 22 to extend Superintendent Dr. Dani Pfeiffer’s contract by one year. The superintendent contract is valid through June 30, 2025.

At the March 22 school board meeting, the board members approved the one-year extension by a unanimous vote.

“Congratulations Dr. Pfeiffer, you’re doing an excellent job,” said Board President Hiroshi Eto.

Pfeiffer thanked and credited the school community.

“I cannot do this work without our 3,000 employees which arrive every day at school and within our facilities, doing the very best job they can to meet the needs of our community of amazing learners,” she said. “It’s an honor to serve this community.”

It is standard practice for the board of directors to annually review the superintendent’s employment status to determine whether to offer an extended contract or allow the existing contract to continue toward its expiration date, according to the district.

Pfeiffer was appointed superintendent in June 2021, following the resignation of former Superintendent Dr. Tammy Campbell. Campbell remains with the district for the 2021-22 school year, serving in a mentorship role to Pfeiffer.

Pfeiffer’s salary for the 2021-22 school year was $290,000, making her the 15th highest paid superintendent in the state. Federal Way Public Schools serves about 23,000 students.
