Federal Way resident Alex Sheehan was recently appointed by the Metropolitan King County Council to the Behavior Health Advisory Board.
Sheehan has been appointed for the remainder of a partial term expiring March 31, 2022.
“As we’ve seen an increase in mental health issues over the past year, I appreciate Alex’s willingness to serve,” said Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents District 7 on the King County Council.
“His experience as a probation/parole officer, coupled with his volunteer work for the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI), provides him with a unique perspective that will be welcome on the Board,” von Reichbauer said.
The King County Behavioral Health Advisory Board is a volunteer citizen board formed to support the Behavioral Health Organization. The purpose of the board is to review services for the King County BHO and provides input and counsel to King County on priorities, policies, budgets and programs for the residents of King County.
The board promotes the importance of prevention, treatment, recovery and the destigmatization of mental illness and addiction.
