A Federal Way man was shot Saturday evening in front of an apartment complex near 288th Street and Military Road S.

The 23-year-old victim, shot in the abdomen just before 5 p.m. outside the Villa Capri apartments, was taken to Harborview Medical Center. While there, the victim told Federal Way Police officers that a male, whom the victim did not know, shot him from a vehicle.

Police encountered opposition at the scene after they first arrived.

“First responders initially had a difficult time securing the crime scene due to a hostile crowd and family surrounding the victim,” said Stan McCall, administrative commander of the Federal Way Police Department, in a statement. “Despite the large number of people, no cooperative witnesses were initially identified.”
