Federal Way police arrested a 23-year-old man for shooting his girlfriend Tuesday morning.
Initially, police were dispatched to the Club Palisades apartment complex, 2400 block of South Star Lake Road, on a report that the shooting was self-inflicted. However, through detectives’ investigation, they collected evidence that led them to determine the man had shot his 21-year-old girlfriend. She was visiting from out of state.
Officers found the woman inside the apartment with gunshot wounds to her hands and head.
Medics transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
According to police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock, as of Tuesday evening, the woman was still alive.
The suspect was booked into King County Jail on assault charges.
