The Kiwanis Club of Greater Federal Way sponsored a spaghetti feed at the Federal Way Senior Center on Saturday as part of the “Kiwanis 1 Day.”

During the annual event, Kiwanis clubs around the world take on a project of club members’ choosing. The Federal Way club usually serves a free spaghetti lunch to seniors every year, said Dick Mayer, Kiwanis president.

A crowd of 50 seniors listened to Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell speak during the event. Other elected leaders also attended the event, including 30th District state Rep. Linda Kochmar and City Councilmember Susan Honda.

Members of the Thomas Jefferson High School Key Club were on hand to help serve and clean up.

Some of the club’s local projects include:

• BUG (Bring Up Grades) in the elementary schools

• Totem Middle School Builders Club – Leadership program

• Thomas Jefferson High School Key Club – Leadership program

• Relay for Life

• Community holiday food and toy drive

• Special Olympics

• Seniors

• School Supplies Project

• Support the local food bank, financially and with volunteers. Multi-Service Center, Federal Way

Support Birth to Three, program for developmentally challenged children

• Read Around The World, an elementary school project
