Federal Way Public Schools kindergarten registration opens on Jan. 20 for the 2017–18 school year.
Families with a child who will be five-years-old by Aug. 31 are welcome to enroll their scholars online, or at school.
To enroll online, visit: www.fwps.org/kiosk, and click on the “Student Registration” link to start the process. Families can also register in person at the child’s school during regular hours. The following documents are required at the time of registration:
• Child’s birth certificate.
• Proof of address (rental agreement, purchase agreement, or utility bill).
• Child’s immunization records for measles, mumps, rubella, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B, and varicella (chickenpox).
If the child has life threatening conditions such as allergies, asthma, diabetes, and seizure disorders, a meeting will be scheduled with the school nurse to confirm that all medications, medical supplies, and health care provider orders are in place prior to the first day of school.
Families can determine which school boundary they reside in by visiting the Federal Way Public Schools website here: www.fwps.org/Page/579
Two activities are offered to welcome and introduce kindergarten scholars and their families to Federal Way Public Schools. Save the date for the following events:
• Jump Start is a two-hour orientation at the school site. Families are invited to attend this evening event to meet kindergarten and administrative staff, see the classrooms and get a feel for the
school.
• K Camp is a summer camp that occurs during the week of Aug. 21, 2017. This camp gives scholars a chance to acclimate to the classroom, learn the layout of the school, engage in activities and get to know the teachers.
These activities are aligned with the district strategic plan Goal 1, The Early Years: Building the Foundation and support the commitment to ensure each scholar transitions smoothly into kindergarten, ready to learn.
