Mirror staff reports:
The city will host a free recycling event 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 17 at the Twin Lakes Park and Ride, at 21st Avenue SW and SW 344th St.
Many in Federal Way may still find an abundance of broken branches and limbs leftover from the January snow and ice storm. Outside of branches and limbs, the city will accept appliances, tires, mattresses, fluorescent light tubes and other items not usually taken by curbside pickup.
For a list of items accepted, visit www.cityoffederalway.com/recycling. Residents will find tips on the most efficient way to load their items, and other useful information. This recycling event is intended for residential quantities, the city notes, and vendors at the event will have the right to refuse any wastes or items that do no meet the standards.
All items will be recycled. Some may be reused, like household goods, bicycles or styrofoam packing “peanuts.” The event is funded with grants from the King County Solid Waste Division, King County’s Local Hazardous Waste Management Program, and the Washington State Department of Ecology.
Visit www.kingcounty.gov/solidwaste for other dates and times for similar recycling events.
