Fifty years after graduating, class members of Federal Way are gathering in the city the weekend of Aug. 9-11. A big decision by the Class of 1963 is to celebrate in Federal Way with a theme of “Play It Again, Pay It Forward.”

The Saturday night event is being held at the Dumas Bay Centre, 3200 SW Dash Point Road, with the theater as the focus site for the celebration. A tour of Federal Way High School is on Friday, and no-host dinner at a local restaurant is scheduled for Friday night.

One graduate, Arnoldo Valazza, is coming from his home country of Argentina to remember his senior year at Federal Way as the American Field Service exchange student.

On Sunday morning, there is a public fundraising $10 breakfast at Applebees restaurant near The Commons at Federal Way to help support student activities. This is an opportunity to support our community and enjoy a Sunday breakfast.

The class realizes there have been significant changes in the last 50 years, including student costs for participating in athletics and music. This is an opportunity for alumni, boosters and students to work together to carry on the Federal Way High School tradition.  Additional information is available by calling (253) 569-6901.

The weekend ends with an all-class Federal Way High School picnic from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Steel Lake Park. Federal Way Eagles from all classes — mark your calendars.
