Federal Way is a diverse place, with 122 first languages spoken in Federal Way Public Schools, and immigrant communities that come from places as divergent as Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

To improve communication with the diverse populations that make up Federal Way’s approximate 88,000 residents, the city is conducting a Diversity Survey available to all residents from Nov. 1-30.

“The 2012 Diversity Survey asks questions about how people in this very multicultural community experience diversity, and what the commission’s priorities should be,” said the chairman of the city’s Diversity Commission, Bob Danielle, in a news release.

The Diversity Commission is the entity responsible for putting together and sponsoring the survey, which is available through the city’s website at www.cityoffederalway.com/diversitysurvey.

Residents are encouraged to participate, and responses will remain anonymous. The survey asks 11 questions related to the relationship between diversity and community involvement. The survey should take participants approximately 3-5 minutes to finish. The survey will be made available in English, Korean, Spanish and Russian.

The city will make hard copies of the survey available at:

• City Hall, 33325 8th Ave. S.

• Federal Way Community Center, 876 S. 333rd St.

• King County Public Library, 34200 1st Way S.

• Federal Way Chamber of Commerce, 31919 1st Ave. S., Suite 202 (upstairs)

• Federal Way Senior Center, 4016 S. 352nd St.

Residents who complete the hard copy form of the survey can be return them to any of the above listed locations, or mail them to City Hall. Results will be counted by those surveys completed and returned by Nov. 30.
