Decatur High School’s Iam Tongi is now among the final dozen competitors on this year’s “American Idol.”
The 18-year-old singer, originally from Kahuku, Oahu, has reached the “voting” part of the competition — where viewers decide who continues to compete and who goes home.
Tongi’s performances of Spawnbreezie’s “Don’t Let Go,” ABBA’s “The Winner Takes It All” and Lionel Richie’s “Stuck On You” propelled him into the top 12 group of singers.
“American Idol” wraps up in late May. The show airs every Sunday and Monday on ABC, and can be streamed on Hulu.
