Fain, Miloscia earn leadership spots in Senate

Sen. Joe Fain, R-Auburn, and Sen.-elect Mark Miloscia, R-Federal Way, were elected to leadership posts

Sen. Joe Fain, R-Auburn, and Sen.-elect Mark Miloscia, R-Federal Way, were elected to leadership posts in the state Senate during the Majority Coalition Caucus reorganization meeting in Yakima on Monday.

Fain was unanimously re-elected to his position as majority floor leader. In that position, Fain determines the flow of legislation through the Senate and when bills will come for a vote. Fain is in his second term representing Auburn and parts of unincorporated Federal Way and is now the top ranking member of the Washington state Senate from the central Puget Sound.

Miloscia was unanimously selected to serve as deputy whip and is the only freshman member of the Majority Coalition to serve in elected leadership. As deputy whip, Miloscia serves on the Senate’s leadership team and is responsible for moving legislation through the caucus.

Committee assignments for all senators will be finalized in the next few weeks.

The Legislature convenes for a 105 day session on Jan. 12, 2015.
