Scott Riley, a former music teacher at Twin Lakes Elementary School, is in trouble again.

Riley was charged last week with child molestation in the first degree. He is accused of sexually touching a young female relative.

Riley resigned from his position with the Federal Way School District last year when he faced charges of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes after inappropriately touching an 11-year-old female student on the buttocks during a music class.

He was ultimately convicted of fourth-degree assault in that case; as part of his sentence, he was ordered to attend sexual deviancy treatment.

In the most recent case, Riley is accused of touching a young girl’s private area beneath her pajama pants when she spent the night at his home. The girl was 6 years old at the time.

According to court documents, Riley admitted to his sexual deviancy counselor that he touched the girl sexually while she slept in his bed. He claimed he had been dreaming.

After speaking with his sexual deviancy counselor, Riley told the girl’s mother and apologized to the girl.

The girl later confirmed the assault with her own counselor. She said that she awoke to find Riley touching her with her pajamas and underwear around her knees. She said she felt a burning sensation.

When the girl asked Riley what he was doing, he claimed that she had said her private hurt and he was looking at it. He later told her she must have dreamed the event and not to tell anyone, according to documents.

Riley remains out of custody until his Sept. 8 arraignment at the Regional Justice Center in Kent. He currently lives in Puyallup.

If Riley is found guilty, he faces a minimum sentence of 51 to 68 months.

Riley also faced accusations of inappropriate behavior with students at a previous job in Nevada. He was accused of having sexual relationships with two students, and he also married a former student of his at Pahrump Valley High School, where he was an assistant principal.

Those allegations were not confirmed until recently.
