Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Ex-boyfriend ends up in weird place: At 11:13 a.m. Oct. 2 in the 3000 block of South 288th Street, the reporting party notified police that he had found his sister’s ex-boyfriend in a shed on their property. According to the report, the ex-boyfriend did not have permission to be on the property, or in the shed.

• Grab and go: At 2:02 p.m. Oct. 2, two unknown suspects stole $850 in merchandise from Macy’s and fled to a waiting car. The vehicle was described as a gold sedan.

• Abandoned car upsets residents, mailman: At 8:14 a.m. Oct. 3 in the 31000 block of 2nd Place SW, residents and a mailman reported an abandoned car had been left in front of a large bank of mailboxes. According to the report, police placed a 24-hour notice of impoundment on the vehicle. The unclaimed vehicle was towed.

• Wannabe renter tries to squat on a property: At 2:34 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 30000 block of 1st Place South, the reporting party informed police that a rental applicant had showed up at one of their properties with a small amount of personal belongings. The reporting party had denied the applicant previously and asked the applicant to leave. The would-be renter left the property without further issue.

• Apartment complex embezzlement claim: At 3:36 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 29000 block of 18th Avenue South, the reporting party induced that a person in charge of collecting rent for a particular complex had embezzled approximately $10,000. According to the report, the suspect had allegedly done so through collecting cash payments for rent, and then manipulating that cash through money orders. Along with this, the reporting party alleged the suspect had also been abusing Section 8 rules for their embezzlement. No charges were being filed as yet, as the reporting party wanted to confer with corporate partners on how to best proceed with the case.

• Dangerous driver removed from the road: At 8:38 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, police observed a driver proceeding in a vehicle with the lights off, and also driving erratically. According to the report, the suspect refused to respond to police lights/sirens/requests to pull over, so police performed a PIT maneuver (pursuit immobilization technique) to stop the driver. The maneuver was successful and the driver was arrested.

• Gambling husband gets in trouble: At 11:20 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 28000 block of 5th Avenue South, a woman got into an argument with her husband over his gambling. As part of that argument, the woman forcibly hit him. The report notes the woman was arrested and taken to the SCORE jail facility.

• Young woman comes forward about rape: At 11:09 a.m. Oct. 2 at Truman High School, a victim of rape came forward to authorities. According to the report, the victim was allegedly raped by her uncle in March of this year. The uncle and his wife had allegedly harassed and threatened the victim about ever reporting the crime to the police, which led to the delay in her reporting the crime.

• Burglar takes one thing: At 1:06 p.m. Oct. 2 in the 30000 block of 10th Avenue SW, the victim reported that their house had been broken into and that only one item appeared to have been stolen: a Kindle Fire.

• Man tries to pass fake $100: At 1:14 p.m. Oct. 2 in the 34000 block of Pacific Highway South, a clerk at a store reported a man trying to pass a counterfeit $100 bill. According to the report, the man, when confronted, said he needed to return to his vehicle to get some smaller bills. The man never returned.
