An electrical fire this morning at a restaurant in Federal Way was quickly extinguished by South King Fire and Rescue firefighters.
Firefighters responded to the Barriga Llena Mexican Restaurant at 30420 Pacific Highway South at around 8:15 a.m. Thursday after a report of smoke coming from the restaurant. The firefighters entered the building and put out the fire, according to a press release; there were no reported injures as no one was inside. Damage was estimated to be in the range of $35,000.
Fire investigators determined that electricity caused the fire.
South King spokeswoman Kendra Kay said in a release that the Thursday morning fire was not believed to be related to three other fires that have occurred along Pacific Highway South in recent weeks. At least two of those fires — one at an abandoned gas station at the corner of South 288th Street, the other at a U-Haul facility near the intersection of 16th Avenue — are being investigated as arson.
