King County Elections released the first round of returns in the Aug. 6 primary tonight and here’s how the races presently stand in Congressional District 9 and Legislative District 30, both of which include Federal Way.
The top two vote-getters will advance to the general election on Nov. 5.
At press time in the 9th Congressional District, current U.S. Rep. Adam Smith (D) had 55.56% of the votes (42,347 votes), Paul Martin (R) had 18.92% (14,417 votes), Melissa Chaudhry (D) had 17.73% (13,510 votes), Mark Greene (R) had 6.83% (5,204 votes) and David Ishii (Bipartisan) had 0.72% (551 votes).
In the 30th Legislative District, current State Rep. Pos. 1 Jamila Taylor (D) had 56.78% of the votes (9,595 votes) and Melissa Hamilton (R) had 43.07% (7,2,78 votes). They both move on to the general election.
Also in the 30th District, current State Rep. Pos. 2 Kristine Reeves (D) had 59.11% of the votes (9,959 votes) and Quentin Morris (R) had 40.75% (6,865 votes).
Primary results will be updated at 4 p.m. on weekdays until the election is certified on Aug. 20.
