Driver flees police, runs a red light, crashes into pillar | Federal Way crime blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• DUI collision: At 2:46 a.m. April 10 in the 33600 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, police witnessed a speeding vehicle. The vehicle stopped at a red light, but took off at a high rate of speed, running the red light, when the driver saw police approaching. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic before hitting a pillar. The driver was processed for drunken driving.

• Missing husband: At 11:17 p.m. April 10 in the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, a woman reported her husband left the home earlier in the evening and had not returned.

• Rape: At 8:29 p.m. April 10 in the 32200 block of Military Road South, officers responded to St. Francis Hospital in reference to a rape. A victim told police she held a party, where she became intoxicated and was raped by her brother’s friend. The suspect admitted to having sex with the victim while she was unconscious and was booked into jail.

• Stolen jewelry: At 7:22 p.m. April 10 in the 1000 block of Southwest 348th Place, a victim stated her jewelry was stolen by a relative. The suspect entered the victim’s home via a key that was provided to him or her when the suspect was watching over the home. The jewelry is valued at $8,354.

• Domestic violence: At 5:52 p.m. April 10 in the 2700 block of Southwest 330th Street, police responded to a call in which a female reported her cousin’s uncle intentionally shot her in the hand with an airsoft pistol, causing injury. The suspect was booked for assault.

• Mysterious drug paraphernalia: At 2:25 p.m. April 10 in the 2600 block of Southwest 333rd Place, police responded to a report of found drugs and paraphernalia. A subject found a crack pipe and a white powder substance behind a light fixture while remodeling a bathroom in his home.

• Stolen fishing gear: At 9:43 a.m. April 10 in the 4200 block of South 324th Place, a victim reported five fishing rods and reels missing from a locked shed. The victim found a board pulled off the back of the shed. The loss is estimated at $700.

• Juvenile runaway: At 9:28 p.m. April 10 in the 4900 block of Southwest 319th Lane, a complainant called to report a juvenile runaway. The complainant believed the runaway could possibly be with other juvenile runaways known to participate in prostitution on South 272nd Street and Pacific Highway South. Police checked the area but did not find the juvenile.

• Residential burglary: At 12:33 p.m. April 10 in the 2000 block of South 333rd Street, a victim was home when two suspects began loudly banging on the door and ringing the doorbell. They then went to the back door and attempted to open a sliding glass door. The suspects kicked in a garage door and stole walkie-talkies before fleeing when witnesses showed up.
