The City of Federal Way’s drive-in movie scheduled for Saturday night (Sept. 12) has been canceled due to this weekend’s unsafe air quality.
Mayor Jim Ferrell and Parks Director John Hutton have made the decision to cancel tonight’s event at the PAEC due to the poor and unhealthy air quality caused by the wildfires, said Tyler Hemstreet, communications coordinator for the Mayor’s Office.
Beginning Friday, a massive smoke plume from the Oregon and California wildfires have taken over the Puget Sound region. Those with lung or heart conditions have been urged to stay indoors and all people should avoid spending excess time outdoors.
