Don Borst, a Sequoya Middle School history teacher, announced the “Dream Scholarship” for a  Washington, D.C., educational trip to enable seventh-graders to expand their dreams. The winners are part of 25 students taking the trip.

The June 2012 trip will highlight the Capitol, the White House, Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and the Smithsonian Museum.

There are also efforts being made to meet with Washington state elected officials Sen. Patty Murray, Sen. Maria Cantwell and even President Obama.

Scholarship winners were selected after submitting an essay about the Washington, D.C., trip and being interviewed by a special selection panel. The selection panel stated that each scholarship winner was very deserving of the honor being awarded them.
