The city council is considering replacing Canadian developer United Properties with local development group Twin Development LLC. In 2007, United Properties proposed purchasing the site and building four towers.

Twin Development is willing to make public its currently proposed design renderings. They includes three towers – two at 45 stories and one at 35 stories – and a 1-acre park. Representatives from Twin Development and the City of Federal Way will be on hand to answer questions. The open house will take place at the City Hall council chambers, 33325 8th Ave. S.

A third open house will occur at 5:30 p.m. June 15, prior to the city council meeting. The council is expected to decide whether it wishes to proceed in assigning the purchase and sale agreement to Twin Development at that time.

If the council proceeds with Twin Development, it will work with the company to finalize design concepts. Those concepts will be heard at the Sept. 7 city council meeting and Twin Development is expected to purchase the site by Sept. 30.

The public is invited to submit comments about the design at the open houses or by e-mail, phone or mail. Contact Patrick Doherty at (253) 835-2612 or patrick.doherty@cityoffederalway.com.
