Dog shot, sent to shelter after biting person | Federal Way Police Blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log from May 17-23.

May 17

There were at least 8 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Drive-thru break-in: At about 12:18 a.m. near the 27500 block of Pacific Highway South, a woman was arrested after attempting to break into a drive-thru window. She initially fled the scene before police arrived, but returned once officers were at the scene.

Alcohol thief: At about 2:52 p.m. near the 1700 block of South Commons, officers took a report of two separate thefts which occurred the week before. The same suspect was responsible for stealing approximately $1,500 of alcohol.

Dog shot, sent to shelter after biting: At about 3:50 p.m. near the 3000 block of South 288th Street, a dog got out of its yard and bit a victim on the arm, pushed her to the ground, and bit her on the hip. The victim was transported to the hospital. While waiting for animal control, the dog charged at an officer and police shot the dog. The dog owner released ownership and the dog was transported to the shelter.

Mother, kids struck: At about 8:16 p.m. near the 1000 block of South 320th Street, a boy, a girl and their mother were struck by three juveniles.

May 19

There were at least 9 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Kids pepper sprayed stealing alcohol: At about 11:18 p.m. near the 27200 block of Pacific Highway South, a group of juveniles parked at a gas station. The group of kids then gathered and concealed alcohol inside the store. They were confronted by employees and blocked from exiting. One employee sprayed pepper spray after a struggle ensued. The kids ran off with the alcohol.

May 20

There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Driver shoots at car: At about 1:25 a.m. near the 28700 block of Military Road South, people called 911 to report an illegal discharge. Near a 7-Eleven convenience store, witnesses heard arguing and multiple gunshots. Officers saw video footage showing two subjects getting into an accident as they left the parking lot. One vehicle drove off as the second vehicle shot at the fleeing driver.

Tractor rolls away: At about 11:50 a.m. near the 36200 block of Enchanted Parkway South, a child released the brake on a tractor on display at the Touch-A-Truck event. The tractor began rolling away and struck another piece of heavy equipment, then stopped. A female victim was injured as a result of the incident.

May 21

There were at least 8 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

May 22

There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Customer assaults employee: At about 4:30 p.m. near the 32400 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a smoke shop after a man assaulted an employee. After investigating, the man was arrested and booked into jail on second-degree assault charges.

Gas station robbed: At about 8:45 p.m. near the 1700 block of South 356th Street, officers responded to reports of a robbery with a firearm at a local gas station. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

May 23

There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Shed break-in: At about 3:50 p.m. near the 31000 block of 14th Avenue South, officers responded the day before to reports of someone breaking into a condo complex’s maintenance shed. Gardening equipment from inside the shed was stolen, totaling approximately $750. No suspects have been identified yet.
