June 12

There were two vehicle thefts, and three vehicles were recovered on this day.

Drive-by: At 1:18 a.m. in the 3300 block of 29th Place SW, officers responded to an active drive-by shooting. The report from the Federal Way Police Department log said two vehicles were involved, but both fled the scene. There were no suspects, and no injuries were reported.

Sober living death: At about 1:51 a.m., a manager of a sober living house located a female in the closet of her room, hunched over a garbage bag full of clothes. The responding medical aide declared the female deceased on the scene. Police investigation indicated that it appeared the female used a controlled substance before her death.

Three grams of meth: At about 2:40 a.m. at South 304th Street and Pacific Highway South, a man who walked in front of a moving cruiser was involuntarily committed. Upon contact, the man told police officers that he had consumed three grams of methamphetamine and was unable to control himself. The man repeatedly asked for help and asked to go to jail. He stated that a demon was talking to him and telling him to kill himself. The report stated it appeared that the man was talking to someone who was not actually there. The report stated that the man could not stop moving around while waving his head and arms.

Fleeing in a stolen vehicle: At about 4 a.m. in the 28000 block of Military Road South, officers attempted several traffic stops on a white SUV known to be stolen and operating in the Federal Way area. The SUV failed to stop when officers attempted to pull over the vehicle and kept fleeing. Officers located the vehicle unoccupied and confirmed it was stolen. Officers then contacted a male exiting a nearby business and established reasonable suspicion he was the driver. Officers detained the male and later confirmed via video he had been driving the vehicle. Through further investigation, officers found a bag that the suspect had attempted to hide and found a loaded stolen firearm.

Damaged sprinklers: At about 6:14 a.m. in the 33000 block of 13th Place South, officers responded to a report of a man damaging sprinklers. A man was found on the property, and it was confirmed that the man had a Department of Corrections warrant for escaping community custody.

June 13

There was one vehicle theft, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Thief slips: At about 8:35 a.m. at Target, loss prevention reported a male in the store with 19 prior loss prevention cases of shoplifting against him. Officers responded to the shoplift-in-progress, and while the suspected thief was exiting the store, when he saw police, he ran, but slipped and fell, and was subsequently arrested.

Firearm stolen: At about 9 a.m. in the 28000 block of Pacific Highway South, someone reported that their home had been burglarized and wanted to report that a firearm had been stolen.

Burger King bomb threat: At about 4:15 a.m., in the 34000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a phoned-in bomb threat to Burger King. Officers and staff searched the location and found nothing of value. Officers cleared the scene.

June 14

There were zero vehicle thefts, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Dating app mishap: At about 1 a.m., police responded to a man reporting that after texting with a person he met on a dating app, the person threatened to post explicit photos of the man if he did not send them various sums of money. The man said he willingly sent the images.

Mental health breakdown: At about 3 p.m. at Barnes and Noble, according to the report, a man was potentially high or going through a mental health crisis when he began tearing up books and stating people should only use the internet. The man then dropped his pants. The man told officers he wanted to kill people and spoke to people who were not there. The report said the man believed he was on Pluto and Saturn. He was then involuntarily committed.

Armed robbery: At about 5:30 p.m. in the 32000 block of 1st Avenue South, a man entered a store, presented a firearm at the employee, demanded money, and left. The suspect was gone when officers arrived and was not located.

June 15

There was one vehicle theft, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Versace glasses: At about 3:45 p.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, an unknown male entered a business and stole 14 pairs of Versace glasses. The male then fled in a vehicle before police arrival.

Dog dies: At about 4:45 p.m. in the 33000 block of 25th Avenue SW, a juvenile was walking his small dog when a pitbull attacked the small dog. The small dog was killed in the incident, succumbing to its injuries. The pitbull was taken to the FWPD station.

June 16

There were zero vehicle thefts, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Can throw: At about 6:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, a woman said that she got into a verbal altercation in which two men threw a can at her car, leaving a scratch. Officers checked the area for suspects, but none were identified.

Coordinated heist: At about 4:45 p.m. in the 34000 block of 15th Place SW, someone reported that a car pulled alongside their service van, so the van blocked its view from their house. The thief then punched out the driver’s door lock and rear door lock. A Dewalt tool bag and a nitrogen tank were taken from the back of the van. The report said that the thief then popped the hood and disabled the negative battery terminal to stop the alarm from going off. Then, the reporting party stated that they went out and confronted the thief as he was entering what appeared to be a blue sedan. The man was described as Caucasian, scruffy-bearded, with dirty long hair, skinny, and close to 6 feet tall.
