The Distributive Education Club of America (DECA) chapter at Decatur High School is raising money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the largest breast cancer charity in the world.

Bolstered by a $500 gift from the Federal Way Noon Rotary, the Decatur club will seek donations during the school’s varsity boys basketball game at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 against Bonney Lake High School. At the game, the club will sell T-shirts and wristbands as well as collect cash donations, and a raffle will be held at halftime. Students from both schools are encouraged to wear pink to the game. Following the game, Decatur students can attend a dance in the school’s performing arts center, 2800 SW 320th St. Cost to attend is $5 with ASB card and $7 general, but admission is free with the purchase of a T-shirt at the game.

The event is part of the Decatur DECA chapter’s public service project. The club’s goal is to raise $1,000 for the Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink account to benefit breast cancer survivors. Businesses and residents are welcome to donate merchandise, gift certificates or money to help the cause. All donations are tax-deductible.
