A Decatur High School graduate and star soccer player has been charged with murder in Bethesda, Md., after allegedly killing a co-worker.

Brittany Norwood, 28, was charged in the killing of Jayna Murray, 30, or Arlington, Va., on Friday by Bethesda Police.

According to published reports, Norwood allegedly fabricated a story that she and Murray were attacked at the store, Lululemon Athletica. Murray was bludgeoned and stabbed to death.

Investigating the crime, Bethesda Police could not find evidence that the two women were attacked and sexually assaulted, as Norwood had allegedly initially told them. According to the Washington Post, police only found two sets of footprints inside the store and heard from witnesses at a neighboring store that two women were heard arguing on the night Murray died.

Norwood graduated from Decatur in 2000 and went on to play soccer at the State University of New York at Stony Brook on Long Island. According to the Seattle Times, Norwood was named to the paper’s All-League team in 1998 and 1999.
